I now know...

I now know that being an artist is found in everything. An artist is not just a person who creates performance or visual art. An artist is a research scientist, an anesthesiologist, an astronomer, a botanist, a yard man, a teacher, etc. The list goes on and on. Because art lives in the alchemy of the mind and spirit. In the passion and interest of a person. Art is how one sees the world and an artist has many tools to transform it. Most often artistry requires crossing disciplines... and being interested and curious about everything to get the desired effect. Before now, my idea of an artist was severely limited. Thankfully, I have grown.

Licking the floor
so that you can taste the sky
This incrimintating
mind state
must end
Pride
is okay
when you are okay with
who you are
no one else
should
have
the ability
to define
you
So why
is it
that this place
this space
that I live
requires
that I
lick their boots
with my hat
in hand
to speak
my truth?

Preying on my genius
My friends
My style
This might be a surprise to you
but I know
about you
and it is okay
for you to be who you are
because you don't know
no better
than to mindlessly
manipulate
rather than build your own
sucking on those
that have
for yourself
who so painfully
has little
